Back to Nokia

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

After leaving Nokia Germany and living in Singapore for almost 3 months, finally I will come back to Nokia again next month.  But this time, I will work for Nokia Canada in Vancouver, not in Nokia Bochum, Germany like before.

I myself don’t really know whether this is good or bad news.  On the one hand, it is a good news because I will relocate to Vancouver, a very nice city to live.  On the other hand, it is a very bad news too because my girl friend cannot go there (we’re still not married yet, so I couldn’t sponsor her).

Anyway, this would be my next adventure, either in live or career.  I have lived in South East Asia for 25 years and in Europe for 4 years and this time I will be in North America.  I hope that Canada will be my last place to settle down because I am no longer young. I have to build a family, have a kid (or kids) and finally retire.

As final words, welcome to Vancouver and welcome back to Nokia…

My First Symbian Freeware

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005
About 3 weeks, I didn’t blog… yeah, like always busy, busy and busy….  One good thing, I am still able to release my first Symbian freeware three days ago.  Actually I had a dream of releasing my own Symbian freeware (or open source program) since two years ago.  Yes, two years ago!!  It has been a long time, but I can realize it only these days.  Last time, I had so many personal problems, so I couldn’t concentrate at all.
My first Symbian freeware, Screenshot for Symbian, is a very simple program.  It captures screenshot of Symbian phones; currently it supports UIQ (like Sony Ericsson P9xx) and Series 60 phones (like Nokia 7610, 6630, 3230, etc).  Although it is very simple, I’ve learnt a lot of things, like localization, multi-platform development, etc.  Let’s see whether my freeware can "fly" in the Symbian phone community….  At least in the first three days, it has been downloaded more than 500 times!
